Jay is an integral part of Summit’s Exit and Succession Planning Team, working with business owners to devise transition strategies. Jay also lends his technical expertise in collaboration with other tax and legal professionals throughout the process. Being able to speak their language is tremendously helpful in the teamwork necessary between professionals. Jay works closely with the Summit advisors to assist with the review of clients’ business and tax posture to arrive at well-rounded solutions. Lastly, a real passion of Jay’s is to raise the Summit Advisors’ business and tax acumen through monthly educational meetings and analysis of tax law changes.
Jay has more than 42 years of experience working with closely-held businesses, their owners and large family groups. His favorite part of the work is developing meaningful relationships with the client, which enhances his ability to help them reach their goals. Prior to joining Summit Financial Group, Jay was a stockholder and Chief Operating Officer for RINA accountancy. He also managed the firm’s tax department where he was responsible for tax posture, compliance systems, and firmwide tax training.
Jay calls Fremont his home and lives with his wife, Julie. Jay’s passion outside the office is cycling – his average ride covers more miles than most of us care to drive in a day! Thanks to a couple of guys at the office, he is also hooked on fly fishing, and he and Julie are making a point to travel abroad as often as possible.
