Summit Gives the Gift of Christmas to Fire Victims

Rode Family: Mike, Angie, Marie and Michelle

Happy Holidays from Summit Financial Group!

The past year has been most fascinating. On one hand, a robust economy and growing stock market have resulted in good things for our clients. On the other, natural disasters and human tragedies have made 2017 very difficult for many in our community. Locally, we have connections with people who experienced loss in the tragic wildfires that swept through Napa and Sonoma counties. The damage to families and businesses was both swift and devastating.

In recent years, we have donated funds on behalf of our clients to a worthy organization – to pay it forward during the Holiday Season. This year, we are focusing that gift in a new way. Pastor Andy Stanley is credited with encouraging people to “Do for one, what you wish you could do for everyone.” While we lack the resources to help all who were impacted by the fires, we have an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of a very special family.

The Rodes

Please meet the Rode Family: Mike, Angie, Marie and Michelle. Mike is a general contractor, and Marine Corps veteran who completed tours of duty in both Iraq and Afghanistan. Angie is a stay-at-home mom. Together they are parents to Marie, 9, and Michelle, 2.

On the morning of October 8th, they lost both their home and Mike’s home-based contracting business in the Tubbs Fire. What little insurance existed proved woefully inadequate to replace their belongings. On behalf of the clients and employees of Summit, we provided gifts of housewares, clothing and toys to the family along with equipment for Mike’s business (see photos below). On December 1 members of the Summit team drove up to MadoroM Winery in Napa to deliver the gifts to the family. (Special thanks to Andy and Marissa Amador for hosting us at their beautiful vineyard!)

It is our wish that the Rodes return to some sense of normalcy, that Mike can continue to provide for his family, and that Marie and Michelle enjoy a Merry Christmas! The holidays are a time of gratitude, and we are grateful for your trust in our guidance, and for the opportunity you give us to make a difference. Happy Holidays! May 2018 bring you and your family joy and peace!
